09. German Sign Language Book with SignWriting, Book 1
This is the first book in the series.

The German Sign Language Book series presents a way to learn simple German signs with illustrations, SignWriting and SpeechWriting.

Although the book is in German, it can be understood by those who do not know German, because of the visual nature of the book. It is an excellent support for those who wish to learn to read Sutton SignWriting and Wöhrmann's SpeechWriting (Mundbildshrift).

MundbildSchrift (SpeechWriting) was developed by Stefan Wöhrmann, a teacher of Deaf children in Germany. It uses SignWriting mouth movement symbols, plus more expanded symbols, in a standardized way, to write the movements of the mouth while speaking German words. Deaf children are learning to speak better with this amazing new development.

Over 450 signs from everyday life are presented on over 160 pages. Each sign includes four things: a photo of a signer producing the sign, an illustration showing the meaning of the sign, the SignWriting for the sign, and the SpeechWriting showing the way the mouth moves when pronouncing the German word connected to the sign.

With the help of this book it should be possible to teach oneself simple German signs, and to also learn to read SignWriting and SpeechWriting. A section in the back of the book explains SpeechWriting (MundbildSchrift) in detail.
